Hello One and All,

Again I’ve been silent for quite a while but now the silence is broken (add triumphal music here)! Not much has happened in my life other than school, I believe I’m carrying an overall grade of 85% or higher. I’m sure you’re asking what classes I’m taking or what grade I’m in.  Simply,

“I’m a senior in high school taking six classes, two of which are college classes at Montgomery College.”

Was that simple enough? I like my MC classes but English is hard, I’ve never been good at writing period, and Computer class …. The less said about the tests the better. However, the tests I thought I would be acing every time is poorly worded resulting in my own confusion leading me to decide the wrong answer. Not to mention he (the author of the book) asks use about things that he barely mentioned. I’m used to Mr. Glass (My Favorite Teacher of all Time) quizzing us on a month’s worth of topics that we took extended class periods reviewing.  Nevertheless, I can’t complain about my grades.

Debate on the other hand, this is turning out to be my favorite subject this year and I’m not getting a grade for it. Over the last month I’ve researched around 500 pages of information about Medical Malpractice. For example, Abortion is considered medical malpractice. Since the doctor is injuring, killing, the child he is legally liable under tort laws (Laws that have to do with personal damage, deformity, injury, and defamed cases in the legal world). Also, about one in a hundred patients are victims of malpractice and only a small minority (under 25%) claim malpractice. Then only about 40% make it to a court (the others are dismissed, dropped, or settled out of court) resulting in only a small minority again getting paid, mind boggling!

Well until next time,

Goodbye

Today’s (This month’s) Verse

2 Timothy 2:22-26 (Listen)

22 So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. 24 And the Lord's servant [1] must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, 25 correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.

Today’s (This month’s) Quotes

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.

Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)

If Beethoven had been killed in a plane crash at the age of 22, it would have changed the history of music... and of aviation.

Tom Stoppard (1937 - )

Hegel was right when he said that we learn from history that man can never learn anything from history.

George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

Hello,

I know this my first post in about 5 months but I can at least say I have a pretty pathetic reason. Here’s what’s happened in my life in the last five months and what I plan to do for the next couple months.

First, I completed my junior year of High School with some very good grades (except for Spanish…) and started to sort out my summer. This year unlike most others I had several job and internships offered. To give you some sort of idea what I mean here a short list. I had four job possibilities, two internships, volunteer at the fire station, go to the Mexico mission’s trip, attend the 2005 Youth Retreat, and the possible vacation with my family. Oh, I also had to attend driving school.

I decided that the best thing was to balance my way through this summer by declining the internships, the vacation, and one job offer. Yes, I do hold three jobs; however, only one of them is full time, one is weekends, and the other is when ever possible. Nevertheless, God in his ultimate knowledge decided I still needed some disruptions in my life. In one week I had to miss driving school twice, miss work once, and completely forget about a fire dept. event I signed up for.

So what does a normal two week span look like in Gabe’s life?Well here you go,

Simply, I’m booked most days.

Mexico ’05, along with my brother and about 73 other people went to Mexico to serve a orphanage. Ranch 3M isn’t really an orphanage because most of the kids do have parents, however, the parent’s aren’t’ in a position to properly care for the kids and have left Senor (Mr.) Dean Adanek in charge of the kids. Most of the kids come from abusive home or their parents don’t care for them. Nevertheless, when you first met them they are very happy and filled with a joy that only God could give. As most of you know we used to go to our sister church in Júarez, Mexico and then commute to our serving locations. This meant that if you wanted to work on the construction crew you wouldn’t see the kids and vice versa. This was hard on the construction crew because they had to release their workers for an entire day. This year we did everything at the Rancho, personally I found this to much more productive because we were able to serve the kids more and the staff of Rancho 3M. For the first time in its history the entire staff left the Rancho for a three day conference at our sister church in Júarez leaving us in charge of the kids 24/3. Mrs. VanOrsdel, who led the food team, had to feed 120 people for 8 meals and Mrs. Bowers had to watch the kids from sunup to sundown. However, Mateo who is from our sister church in North Carolina was interning there for the last six months stayed with us to help us with the langue barrier. Over all it was a great trip.

Oh, before I went to Mexico I was able to attend driving class [you can now applaud] and made most of the classes. After the trip it was hard trying to fit my schedule around the last three classes and driving times. Therefore, in conclusion I still have one last driving in-car class to attend this upcoming Wednesday.

Work, work, work, work, and yes more work. For most of my summer I worked over at the City of Gaithersburg working 8-10 hours a day until one day…! Okay I won’t make it as dramatic as it really could have been but it was very emotional. I’m a person who needs to be engaged at all times or my mind will slip off into sin. What I mean is, when I’m not thinking about being nice I can be very mean or seem angry with people. This ended with several citations that I was not made aware of. I was then released from that job (however, I’m still an employee of the city) and that very day sad as it was I could still sense God’s unstoppable plan. Because that very day (and the next day) I was given an eight hour work schedule from Smokey Glen Farm. This meant that in one day I was released from one job and then worked an eight hour day over at my other job.

Just recently I was trained for lock-up (the person who is responsible for the second part of any event at SGF) and I’ve been in this position for the majority of the last couple week-ends.

However, my work over at the City wasn’t completely in vain. Because of the massive paychecks I received (Due to the 8-10 hours a day I worked) I was able to finally build my computer. This has been my dream for the last two years and after many hours of research I bought a great computer. If anyone wants the detailed specs, please make a note of it at the bottom of this page with the eprops.

Around this time the youth retreat came around and I have to say this ways the best one ever. Again we went to Sandy Cove Retreat Center for three days filled with meaningful sermons and discussion groups. If anyone was unable to attend, I would charge you to get the messages and listen to them! My personal favorite was Mr. Laymen’s message on Heaven. However, don’t listen to this one first as it builds upon the others. The break-out sessions were also great! My leader was Bryce Hoover and he led our group so skillfully that I gained so much from his discerning mind and heart. Not to mention he was able to decipher my sometimes strange examples. During the ministry time I first made it a point to pray for Koko, who had just given his heart to the Lord the previous evening. Then I made the rounds of my friends praying for them and them praying for me. Overall, it was a great evening!! Not to mention that this will be my last retreat as a High Schooler.

For all of my friends who know of my Acrophobia, Altophobia, Batophobia, Hypsiphobia, and Hyposophobia (all phobias of heights) know that I normally do not ride or even attempt a roller coaster. However, my trip to King’s Dominion included for the first time, several rides on coasters. Although It will be a while until I do “Drop Zone” I think I’ll try and do more rides and put my phobias to the limit. Therefore, now that I don’t have a huge fear of heights I think my newest phobia is Russophobia (That’s for you Chris F.)

Well with school starting up again I may not be able to update this daily or monthly, I will try to post anything I can. Have a nice day!

Hello, Today I accomplished basically nothing. Today I was suppose to referee for the City of Gaithersburg, but that got canceled; I then went with Chris to raise some money for the Mission Trip I’m going on. How many pizzas did I sell? Zero, zilch, nada; after all of this I then went riding at Station 8 on Ambulance 87. Now unlike the first two things I we did get two calls but one was only food on a stove and the other was then directed to someone else. However, it wasn’t a complete waste of my time; I learned that the US nearly exploded after Lincoln was shot. It’s true; the north did to the south what Austrian Empire would latter do to Serbia. Sherman was under fire from politicians because he hadn’t pressed Johnston to agree to surrender and Jeff. Davis was still on the loose. In fact one general almost did what Napoleon did in France by coming to power in a desperate nation. I also learned a lot about Wild West technology, how people have tried to cheat Los Vegas, and that’s about it. Have a wonderful day!

Verse of the Day,

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NIV

Quote of the Day,

Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.
